Sudbury 13-13 Southend Saxons
JOSH WARD could barely hide his frustrations after his Southend Saxons side again allowed a lead to slip as struggling Sudbury snatched a share of the London One North spoils at Whittome Field.
The Saxons headed for Suffolk looking to bounce back following successive defeats at the hands of Eton Manor and Colchester. However, it proved to be another difficult afternoon as the Seasiders lost further ground on the promotion-chasing pack.
“I think both teams will feel similar after that one, we’re very disappointed with our performance today,” Director of Rugby, Ward, told Yellow Sport.
“We, as did they, had opportunities to build a score, but it was a scrappy game that was never allowed to get going. I’ll keep my opinions to myself on that topic.”
Ward continued: “Joel Armitage was outstanding today for us. His intent and desire on and off the ball was first class.
But ultimately, as a group, we need more from each other. We have the talent within our squad there’s no doubt. We had moments in the game where we played some good phases but our unforced error count will need to shrink considerably before we get back registering wins”.
