Watson ready for tough Wanderers challenge

Dorking Wanderers v Billericay Town – Vanarama National League South – Meadowbank – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Kevin Watson’s frustration was clear after the new Billericay Town chief had witnessed his side squander a 3-0 lead against local rivals Chelmsford City during the week.

The Blues missed a terrific opportunity to record a second-successive Vanarama National League South success and had to be contented with a share of the spoils. Nevertheless, Watson insisted his side’s preparation ahead of Saturday’s trip to promotion-chasing Dorking Wanderers would remain very much the same.

“We prepare like we have prepared for the week and a bit I’ve been in,” the former Colchester United midfielder explained.

“We trained on Thursday – I watched Dorking – We see what their strengths and weaknesses are, we prepare for that.

“They get their rest in. They’ve had two tough games, the boys. A derby game played at a high pace. The games come thick and fast, especially where we’ve had COVID breaks and stuff like that. There’s going to be a lot of Saturday-Tuesday’s.

The Blues chief added: “We prepare like any other week. We see who’s sick? Who’s lame? Then we will pick a squad to go to Dorking – to give it our best shot and hopefully get a result.”
