Despite a brilliant century from Hammad Ul Hassan, Westcliff On Sea had to be content with a share of the spoils after Old Southendian & Southchurch batted out to force a dour draw at Chalkwell Park.

Hammad hit 120 off 115 balls. His innings included fifteen 4s and one 6. Charlie Lockhart contributed 42 to Westcliff’s 276 for nine, while wicketkeeper/batter, Lewis Groves scored 35. Dylan Batt returned impressive figures of four for 43 from his eleven overs, while Ahsan Yousaf took 4/69.

Facing an uphill struggle, the Old Boys dug in with TJ Bailey scoring 36, while Andy McGarry and Joe Madren saw out the final overs. Tom Baker proved to be the pick of the home side’s attack with three for 18 off seven.
