THE EQUATION across the park was simple – winner takes second place, while Westcliff held an outside chance of taking the title should Leigh falter.
As it transpired, the home side had to be content with the runners-up spot. However, both they and Harlow had ensured that the season remained electrifying right up to the conclusion.
On the day, Westcliff won comfortably. Skipper, Peter Banes scoring a snappy 70 as they posted a modest 197/9.
Jason McNally was the pick of the Harlow attack, taking 5/47. However, his efforts proved to be fruitless as the visitors batting order collapsed.
Only McNally himself, with 38, produced anything of note with the bat – Sherwin Stanley dong most of the damage finishing with figures of 5/37 to ensure Westcliff’s promotion.
