Billericay’s struggles continued as Hornchurch recorded a 49-run victory with Merv Westfield playing a starring role.

The former Essex man hit 84 off 82 balls, while Billy Gordon contributed 77 and Adeel Malik an unbeaten 67 as the home side posted 273/4.

Skipper Andy Smith (47), Nathan Khelawon (46) and Matthew Bell (42) offered some resistance. However, three wickets apiece from Marc Whitlock and Adeel Malik did the bulk of the damage. Hornchurch now occupying fourth place.
