Horndon on the Hill precariously navigated themselves towards a share of the spoil after the Old Boys had looked set to clinch a vital victory in this Division One relegation battle.

Sam Hodgson top-scored with 47, while Max Craddock (38) and Kyle Smith (37) made useful contributions towards the home side posting 235/9 – Horndon Skipper, Jeff West doing his utmost with the ball, taking 3/46, while Connor Hammond, Paul Bennett and Andrew Clark each claimed two apiece.

Horndon made heavy weather of the chase – West holding it together with an unbeaten 80. Ahmed Khawaja took 3/40 and Matthew Austin 3/42 as the Old boys honed in on maximum points. However, the visitors’ managed to bat out the remaining overs, keeping themselves in touch with those directly above them and dragging the Old Boys within eight points of the dropzone.
