Experienced defender, John White, has put pen to paper on a six-month extended deal with Southend United.
The 34-year-old will remain with the Roots Hall Stadium outfit at least until January 31, 2021. The player has made more almost 250 appearances for the Blues since arriving from Colchester United in 2013.
Speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk, White said: “Yes, I am really pleased to get the contract sorted in time to join in with the group from the start of pre-season today.
“I definitely feel like we all as a group have something to prove after what happened last year. I am really pleased that I will get the opportunity to turn the fortunes of this club around and move forward in a positive way.”
A recurring broken arm followed by the pandemic meant White has been sidelined considerably longer than he would have liked: “I would like to feel like a footballer again as it has been an extremely long time since I was on a pitch competitively,” he added.
