There was a busy programme of fixtures for Southend Hockey Club’s ladies section, with the first and third XI’s securing notable victories.
Beth Gregory scored twice, while Karis Livingstone was also on target as a combined first XI saw off Gore Court by three unanswered goals.
Southend didn’t have it all their own way. Goalkeeper, Emily Daelemans, earned a Player of the Match accolade with some timely interventions to keep the opposition at bay.
Another keeper earning her corn was Olivia Wyre who helped the second-team to a 1-1 draw with Southend and Benfleet – Emma Hickling with Southend’s goal.
Helena Taylor, Angela Eastbrook and Lauren Bradfield were all on target for the third team in their exciting 3-2 win over Basildon. Taylor, Eastbrook and Sam Maddocks producing notable displays.
Meanwhile, Southend’s fourth team went down by the odd goal in three to Redbridge & Ilford – Sheila Taylor with the Seasiders consolation goal – Laura Sullivan impressing in the Midfield.
