Highly-rated defender, Brendan Wiredu, has left Colchester United to join Sky Bet League One outfit, Fleetwood Town, for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old arrived at Colchester from Charlton Athletic in 2021 having previously enjoyed a successful loan period with the North Essex club.
The player made seventy-five appearances in the U’s top team. Speaking to www.cu-fc.com, Director of Football Tony Humes said: “Brendan was always one to wear his heart on his sleeve and gave everything he could for the club.
“The move to Fleetwood presents a good opportunity for Brendan to test himself at a higher level and we would like to thank him for his efforts in a Colchester United shirt, and wish him well for his future footballing career.”
