Woman charged with assault after man injured in Southend

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an assault in Southend.

Officers responded to reports of a man being hit in the face and head with a bottle on the High Street near to Victoria Plaza, at about 6.10pm on Monday June 19.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was knocked unconscious.

A woman from Southend was arrested and has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

She is next due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on July 19.

Officers are continuing to investigate and still need anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.
