Mike Taylor – Tottenham Hotspur

This week, 44-year-old Mike Taylor from Basildon is featured as our #YellowSport Fan of the Week

How long have you supported Tottenham Hotspur?

To be honest, I would have to say all my life, my Dad and Grandad both grew up in the area and had always followed Tottenham. My Dad started taking me to Tottenham from the age of about 6 and I’ve never looked back.

Where in the ground do you sit?

North West Corner – Block 511

Favourite all-time player?

This is a very difficult question as there have been so many unbelievable players at Spurs over the years. I grew up watching some of the all-time greats with players like Glenn Hoddle, Ossie Ardiles, Jurgen Klinsmann and in more recent years players like Gareth Bale and Harry Kane but I would have to say my all-time favourite would be Paul Gascoigne. He hasn’t been a great role model since his retirement but you could never take away what this man did on the pitch.

Favourite current player?

It’s very hard to ignore Harry Kane for obvious reasons but the player I most enjoy watching is Son Heung-Min. I wasn’t convinced when he first joined Spurs and thought his first touch was poor but boy has he proved me wrong. Since joining he has continued to improve and has become such a dangerous player and is an absolute pleasure to watch.

Most memorable match?

Again this is a hard question, Tottenham’s comeback against Ajax in last seasons Champions League semi-final will go done in history but for me, it was the 1991 FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal at Wembley when we beat them 3-1 and Gazza scored that amazing free-kick.

If I could sign one player for my team it would be?

Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. For me, this boy has everything you would want in a striker, power, pace, skill and he is a natural goal scorer. At the age of 21, this boy has a massive future.
