Vanarama National League

Goals by Jake Hyde and Rhys Murphy saw Southend United turn round their seven-game losing streak with a 2-0 win at Yeovil Town, who saw Miguel Freckleton sent off in the eighty-third minute.  

The game was overshadowed by a serious-looking injury to Glovers’ Alex Fisher, who was stretchered off just minutes after coming on as a substitute at the start of the second half.

Dorking Wanderers pulled seven points clear of the National League relegation zone after late goals by Jason Prior and Harry Ottaway saw them through to a 2-0 victory at Dagenham & Redbridge. The win was the Wanderers’ third in successive games.

Vanarama National League South

Having seen their unbeaten home record come to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Taunton Town last week, Braintree Town lost their second successive game at Cressing Road with a 3-1 reverse to Dover Athletic. Luke Wanadio (2) and Bradon Pierrick netted for the Whites whilst Alfie Matthews was on target for Braintree. 

The games between Cheshunt and Chelmsford City, and Concord Rangers and Havant & Waterlooville were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches. 

Pitching-In Isthmian League Premier Division

Bishop’s Stortford Town took over the top spot with a comfortable 2-0 win at Carshalton Athletic. Frankie Merryfield (his twenty-second of the season) and Harry Beadle netted for Blues, who now lead Hornchurch by two points with both having played thirty-eight games.  

Aveley’s 2-1 win at Haringey Borough sees them stay well on track for a promotion spot come the end of the season. Harry Gibbs gave the Millers the lead when he headed home Jon Nzengo’s cross in the third minute.

 Oli Coker looked to have sealed the win when he netted five minutes from time and although Ben Allen pulled one back from the spot for Borough, Aveley held on to take the points.   

Canvey Island secured their fifth win in successive games with a 2-0 win at Wingate & Finchley. Bradley Sach and Conor Hubble were on target for the Gulls, who stay third – two points behind leaders Hornchurch, with four games left to play.

Brightlingsea Regent’s 2-0 home defeat by Bowers & Pitsea confirmed the R’s relegation to Step 4, whilst Bowers’ win leaves them only three points away from the safety zone with four games left to play. Brandon Aviero & Montrell Deslandes scored for Bowers. 

In a mid-table clash, Imran Uche’s goal gave Billericay Town a 1-0 win at Bognor Regis Town. 

Pitching-In Isthmian League North

Hashtag United came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Coggeshall Town at the Len Salmon Stadium. Darnell Kithambo gave the Seed Growers the lead just before half-time before the Tags netted twice late on through Alex Teniola and Tom Anderson to take the points.

Grays Athletic and Basildon United shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw at Parkside. Ronnie Winn and Campbell (2) were on target for Grays & Allen (2) and Pethers netted for the Bees.  

Heybridge Swifts’ 3-0 win over Bury Town at Scraley Road sees them remain in fifth place and maintain their push for a play-off spot at the end of the season. Matt Price, Rob Harvey and Ben Sartain netted for Swifts.

David Knight was Great Wakering Rovers hero with a hat-trick in their thrilling 4-3 win at fellow relegation strugglers Tilbury. Jack Thompson scored Wakering’s other goal whilst Tom Salter, Harry Donovan and Luke Wilson netted for the Dockers.   

The games between Felixstowe & Walton United and East Thurrock United, Hullbridge Sports and Gorleston, Lowestoft Town and Brentwood Town & Wroxham and Maldon & Tiptree were postponed due to waterlogged pitches. 

Essex Senior League

Leaders Enfield took another big step towards the league title when Louis Johnson netted a minute from time in a 1-0 win over Romford.

Halstead Town, with goals from Kane Gilbert (2) Ben Morris and Harry Pinkey defeated Little Oakley 4-0.

Woodford Town beat Ilford 4-1 with goals from Miles Mitchell-Nelson, Dimitri Christou, Luke Parrott (penalty) and Wale Odedoyin.

Charlie Cole (2) and Jason Hallett led Saffron Walden Town to a 3-0 win over Takeley.

Athletic Newham won 2-0 at Sawbridgeworth Town with goals from Daniel Izekor and Richard Kone.

Giseldi Marashi netted Clapton’s goal in the 1-0 win over rock-bottom Southend Manor.

Goals from Joe Gregory (2) Archie McFadden and Joshua McFaull were on target for White Ensign in their 4-2 win over Buckhurst Hill, for whom Nathan Sollosi and Sam Sollosi both netted.

The match between FC Clacton and Redbridge was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

In the Monday night games, Athletic Newham enjoyed a comprehensive 5-0 win over Clapton whilst Takeley beat Stansted 2-0.        

Essex Olympian League

Old Southendian defeated Galleywood 1-0 at Garon Park.

Kelvedon Hatch, who had Lewis Brown sent off and Springfield shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at New Hall. James Nottage scored for Hatch and Robbie Norris for Springfield.
