Stuart Watkinson – Bowers & Pitsea
Bowers & Pitsea enthusiast, Stuart Watkinson, is featured as our #YellowSport Fan of the Week
How long have you supported Bowers & Pitsea?
I have been following them since the epic FA Vase run a few years back. I followed Ipswich Town but would watch Bowers when they weren’t playing.
I got hooked from there. Everyone at the club was friendly and provided a safe place for my two boys to watch some footy.
Anyone wanting to support your local community, please come down to the Len Salmon Stadium. We are a family orientated club with fantastic facilities
Where in the ground do you sit?
I never sit, I’m always behind the goal we attack. There’s not many of us at Bowers. It’s been said the noise I make, makes up for it!
Favourite all-time player?
Lewis Manor at Bowers & Pitsea. Paul Mariner at Ipswich Town
Favourite current player?
James Thomas or JJJJTTT!
He runs, runs and runs some more, his effort is second to none. At the end of matches, all the players will come and high five us fans, win lose or draw. He will always apologise if things haven’t gone our way.
Most memorable match?
When Bowers needed to beat Hullbridge to win the Essex Senior League title. We won 2-1 with a penalty and even had a little pitch invade to celebrate!
If I could sign one player for my team it would be?
Any player that fits into the Bowers ethos of hard work and commitment which Smallsy (Rob Small) the gaffer requires. Failing that, another James Thomas.
