Vanarama National League
Sam Ling bagged a brace as Dagenham & Redbridge eased to local bragging rights with a comfortable 3-0 victory over struggling Southend United at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Blues – under the guidance of their new management trio, Kevin Maher, Darren Currie and Mark Bentley – contained the hosts throughout the opening period. However, during a devestating five-minute spell after the restart, Mo Sagaf opened the scoring before Ling twice headed past Southend keeper, Harry Seaden to secure the points.

Adam Morgan headed a late equaliser for Chelmsford City at Oxford City. However, the Clarets 1-1 draw was as good as it got for the regions’ teams.
Billericay Town’s recent revival was brought to its conclusion by Tonbridge Angels at New Lodge. Former Blues man, Ricky Modeste provided the only goal of the game. Angels’ goalkeeper, Jonny Henly saved a last-minute penalty from Lucan
Tom Derry found the net for Braintree Town, but the Iron slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Dulwich Hamlet. Meanwhile, Concord Rangers were on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline – Aron Pollock with the Beach Boys solitary strike.
Pitching In Isthmian League Premier Division
It was a bad day at the office for East Thurrock United who went down by eight goals to nil at home against an impressive Enfield Town.
The Rocks found themselves 7-0 down at the interval. Muhammadu Faal scored four times for the rampant visitors. while former Southend United man, Lyle Della-Verde netted twice along with further strikes from Adam Cunnington and Nathan Smith.
Bowers & Pitsea played out a goalless draw with Bognor Regis Town at the Len Salmon Stadium, while Haringey Borough also shared the spoils – Scott Mitchell scoring in the opening minute of their 1-1 draw with Carshalton Athletic at Coles Park.
Eren Kinali was Brightlingsea Regent’s goalscorer at Margate. However, the Kent club took the points, winning by the odd goal in three.
Pitching In Isthmian League North
Despite losing manager, Mark Bentley to Southend United, Canvey Island continue to top the table following an emphatic 5-1 victory at fellow promotion hopefuls, Bury Town.
Evans Kouassi netted twice for the Gulls, while further goals from Conor Hubble, Elliott Ronto and Matthew Price ensured a four-point cushion for the Park Lane club at the summit.
Third-placed Grays Athletic were 3-1 winners at Heybridge Swifts. David Knight (penalty), Danny Gould and Freddy Moncur with the visitors’ goal – Jack Adlington-Pile responding for Steve Tilson’s men.
Brentwood Town are up to fifth following an exciting 3-2 win over Basildon United. Jack Humphrey, Rob Harvey and Freddie Gard on target for Town – Luke Hirst and Samuel Jeremiah netting after the restart for the battling Bees.
Suaibo Balde fired Witham Town ahead against Coggeshall Town at the Simarco Stadium. However, Sam Bantick equalised for the visitors just before the hour to earn a point. Also ending all square was Hullbridge Sports and Romford. Tony Stokes netting twice from the spot for Sports – Shermandin Artmeladze and Billy Hayes responding for the East Londoners.
Tilbury went down 2-1 at home to Hashtag United – Roman Campbell for the Dockers – Joe Debell and a late Kris Newby penalty securing it for United. Barking was also beaten – Aaron Blair’s goal insufficient as an Adam Hipperson brace sent Dereham Town away with a 2-1 success
Steve Butterworth became the latest managerial casualty after his Great Wakering Rovers side were beaten 2-1 at Stowmarket Town. Connor Martin had given the Rovers a first-half lead. However, Chris Casement and Jack Ainsley sent the villagers spinning to their seventh league defeat of the season.
Essex Senior League
Leaders, Stanway Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw by White Ensign at Burroughs Park. Joe Gregory netting for the home side, Jordan Barnett ensuring a point for the North Essex side.
Walthamstow has played five games fewer. They closed the gap to two points with a 2-0 triumph over FC Clacton – Harrison Carnegie and Charlie Cole netting for the Wadham Lodge side.
Takeley was amongst the goals, hammering Southend manor 4-1. Meanwhile, Sporting Bengal United and Sawbridgeworth Town played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the FSI Stadium. The match between Enfield and St Margaretbury ended goalless.
Buildbase FA Vase
Saffron Walden Town made progress with a 3-1 win over Kirkley & Pakefield at Catons Lane. Scott Piggott netting twice and Jacob Noble adding a third for the home side.
Stansted are through after seeing off Wivenhoe Town 4-1 on penalties after their tie had ended 1-1. Also through are Cockfosters, who won 4-2 at Whitton United.
Ilford are out after going down by a goal to nil against Shefford Town & Campton at the Cricklefield Stadium. Redbridge follows them – hosts, Newmarket Town winning by the odd goal in three.
Essex Olympian League Premier Division
Leaders, Ongar Town maintained a single point advantage following a 2-0 win at Springfield. Second-placed Basildon Town were 2-1 winners over Harold Wood Athletic.
Hutton kept up the pressure with a 3-1 win over Shenfield AFC. Rayleigh Town saw off Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 3-0, while Catholic United thrashed Kelvedon Hatch by five unanswered goals.
Old Southendian maintained their recent good form with a narrow 2-1 won over Galleywood at Garon Park. Sungate also picked up maximum points, beating Leigh Ramblers 4-2.
