Vanarama National League
Ten-man Southend United slipped to their eighth Vanarama National League defeat of the season at Boreham Wood.
Blues had Abu Ogogo sent-off after picking up two swift second-half bookings. Tyrone Marsh snatched the winner for the league leaders eight minutes from time.
Dagenham & Redbridge were pegged back by Chesterfield in a pulsating encounter at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Goals from Angelo Balanta and George Saunders gave the home side a two-goal lead inside twenty-three first-half minutes. However, Jamie Grimes and Kabongo Tshimanga drew the Spireites level before the former received his marching orders in the final stages.
Vanarama National League South
Danny Green grabbed a late equaliser as Concord Rangers drew 1-1 at Slough Town. Meanwhile, Myles Anderson did likewise for bottom of the table Braintree Town, who snatched their first point in eight games at Chippenham Town. However, that was as good as it got for the regions’ National South teams.
Billericay Town went down by a goal to nil at Peter Taylor’s Welling United.

“Despite the defeat, there were signs that Billericay may be starting to play more the way boss, Jody Brown would like.
“Town bossed the game at times, had good amounts of possession and restrict Welling to minimal chances. However, the Blues lacked creativity and that appears to be the missing link at the moment.
Aaron Barnes netted the only goal of the game. Billericay remains second from bottom.
Chelmsford City was also on the receiving end, going down 3-2 at home to Havant & Waterlooville – Simeon Jackson with a brace for the beaten Clarets.
Pitching In Isthmian League North
Grays Athletic made ground on the leaders, Canvey Island with a single-goal victory over Hullbridge Sports – Joe Paxman netted after six minutes for the Blues in front of a 282-strong crowd at Parkside.
Aveley remains in play-off contention following a 4-0 walloping of Dereham Town. Alex Akrofi bagged a hat-trick, while Shad Ngandu was also on target.
Maldon & Tiptree won an entertaining encounter with Tilbury at the Wallace Binder Ground by four goals to two. Malachi Napa and Charlie Hughes each scored twice for the Jammers, while Lewis Smith and
Roman Campbell netted for the Dockers.
Coggeshall Town was also involved in a close encounter. Sam Bantick, Jayden Gipson and Jermain Francis were on target in a 3-2 win over Barking – Sakariya Hassan and George Purcell responding for the East Londoners.
Buildbase FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round
Tom Richardson hit a first-half hat-trick as Brentwood Town eased to a 3-0 victory over AFC Sudbury. Joining them at the next stage are Canvey Island, whose 3-0 win over Burgess Hill Town came courtesy of Evans Kouassi, Harrison Chatting and Conor Hubble.
East Thurrock United’s Trophy involvement was emphatically ended by a Kingstonian side that won 6-0 at Rookery Hill. Great Wakering Rovers are also out after hosts’ Walton Casuals netted a late spot-kick winner to edge out the villagers by two goals to one.
Bowers & Pitsea lost 4-1 at Farnborough, while Heybridge Swifts went out on penalties to Hayes & Yeading United after teh two sides had played out a 2-2 draw.
Essex Senior League
Walthamstow top the table following a 2-1 victory over Athletic Newham -Jason Hallett with a brace for the winners – Richard Kone responding for Athletic. Second-placed Stanway Rovers were surprisingly beaten by a goal to nil at lowly Sawbridgeworth Town. Meanwhile, Redbridge is in third after a 3-0 win at Southend Manor – Anthony Martin (2) and Robbie Norris with the goals.
Cockfosters were the big winners of the day, thrashing Sporting Bengal United by five goals to nil. Stansted were also amongst the goals, beating St Margaretsbury 5-1. Meanwhile, a highly entertaining clash at Little Oakley saw the hosts see off White Ensign by the odd goal in seven.
Hoddesdon Town won 2-1 at Clapton, while Saffron Walden Town were 1-0 winners at Ilford. Woodford Town also picked up three points, beating FC Clacton by three goals to one.
Essex Olympian League
Ongar Town are a point clear at the top after a resounding 5-0 triumph at Kelvedon Hatch. Basildon Town is in second after seeing off Canning Town 3-1.
Hutton is up to third following a 5-0 hammering of Leigh Ramblers. Old Southendian’s recent good form continued as they recorded a 2-0 success over Harold Wood Athletic.
Rayleigh Town won by two unanswered goals at Catholic United. Sungate and Galleywood played out a 2-2 draw.
