Emirates FA Cup first-round
Bowers & Pitsea’s historic Emirates FA Cup run is over after Sky Bet League Two side, Lincoln City won by a goal to nil at Sincil Bank.

Bowers battled bravely but went down to Max Sanders’ 66th-minute goal in front of a crowd of 5,800.

Southend United are also out after a 3-1 defeat at Chesterfield.

Rhys Murphy gave the Shrimpers an early lead. However, goals from Saidou Khan, Luke Croll and substitute Kabonga Tshimanga earned the host a place in the hat.

Blues misery was compounded when Sam Dalby missed a late penalty, while loanee, Zak Brunt found himself in hot water, sent off after a skirmish with Calvin Miller in the seventh minute of stoppage-time.

Braintree Town moved off the bottom thanks to a 1-0 win over Tonbridge Angels at Cressing Road. Kyran Clements netted to all-important goal, and that sent Billericay Town back to the foot of the table after they were thrashed 4-1 by Hungerford Town – Charlie Lee with the Blues consolation.

Chelmsford City are hovering just above the relegation zone following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Eastbourne Borough – Simeon Jackson scoring in the final stages for the Clarets.

Pitching In Isthmian League Premier Division
Charlie Ruff netted the only goal of the game helping Hornchurch secure victory over Merstham in front of a 322-strong crowd at Bridge Avenue.

Haringey Borough and Margate played out an exciting 2-2 draw at Coles Park. Anthony Mcdonald and Andronicos Georgiou were on target for the North Londoners. However, it proved to be a difficult afternoon for Brightlingsea Regent who were beaten 6-1 at Carshalton Athletic – Valter Cachicote da Rocha scoring the North Essex sides’ consolation.

East Thurrock United’s recent worrying form continued. The Rocks were beaten 2-0 by Leatherhead at Rookery Hill. Arthur Aderi with a late brace for the visitors.

Pitching In Isthmian League North
Charlee Hughes, Scott Kemp and Martyn Stokes found the net as Maldon & Tiptree won their derby clash at Witham Town by three unanswered goals.

Aveley made ground on the top three with a 3-1 triumph over Basildon United at Parkside. Manny Ogunrinde scored twice for the Millers, while Harry Gibbs also found the net – Nathan Fuma responding for the battling Bees.

Brentwood Town saw off Dereham Town by two goals to nil thanks to strikes from Tom Richardson and George Craddock. Tilbury recorded a similar triumph over Coggeshall Town – Roman Campbell and
Oliver Spooner netting within three first-half minutes.

Lionel Ainsworth, Lewis Gard and Jack Adlington-Pile gave Heybridge Swifts a 3-0 lead over Great Wakering Rovers at the Aspen Waite Arena. Martin Tuohy and Lewis Jaggs responded for the villagers, but the home side held on to win by the odd goals in five.

And that gave bottom of the table Hullbridge Sports an opportunity to close the gap. Joe Gardner gave them a first-half lead against Hashtag United at Lower Road. However, Kiernan Hughes-Mason earned the visitors a share of the spoils, striking three minutes after the restart.

Essex Senior League
With league leaders, Walthamstow out of action, Stanway Rovers closed the gap to six points with a resounding 5-0 victory over Takeley.

Sean Bartlett scored twice for Rovers, while Lewis Francis, Danny Nesbitt and Ernest Okoh also found the net.

Redbridge kept up the pressure by beating Sawbridgeworth Town 2-0 at the Oakside Stadium, while Athletic Newham won on the road against White Ensign at Burroughs Park – Abdul Shobowale netting one of the visitors’ goals.

Enfield won 5-0 at Sporting Bengal United. Also winning away were Cockfosters, 2-0 at West Essex – Ilford, 1-0 at St Margaretsbury – And surprisingly, FC Clacton, 3-2 at Saffron Walden Town.

Elsewhere, Hoddesdon Town beat Southend Manor 2-0 and Little Oakley won their Friday fixture at Woodford Town by the odd goal in three.

Essex Olympian League
Leaders, Basildon Town recorded a 2-0 victory over Shernfield AFC – Ryan Scougall and Marcus Bowers with the all-important goals. Second-place Hutton were 3-1 winners over Ongar Town.

Rayleigh Town were the big winners of the day, thrashing Harold Wood Athletic by nine goals to nil. Galleywood and Springfield were also amongst the goals, beating Canning Town and Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 6-2 and 5-2 respectively.

Catholic United saw off Leigh Ramblers 2-0, while Sungate went one better, beating Kelvedon Hatch 3-0.
