Southend United are up to twelfth place after extending their unbeaten league run to nine matches at Woking.

Early goals from Jason Demetriou and Callum Powell gave Blues a two-goal advantage. However, a brace from Inih Effiong – the second from the penalty spot – restored parity.

A towering header from Harry Cardwell sealed the win for Southend. They are now eight points off the play-off places. This is their fourth win on the spin.

Vanarama National League South
Billericay Town remain at the bottom of the table despite recording an impressive 2-0 victory over Dulwich Hamlet at New Lodge.

Femi Akinwande and Dylan Gavin netted for The Blues. However, Braintree Town kept them at arms-length thanks to Stefan Ilic’s winner at St Albans City.

Cameron James’ late header secured Chelmsford City three vital points against Hampton & Richmond Borough at the Melbourne Community Stadium. Meanwhile, Concord Rangers also collected a home victory, seeing off Havant & Waterlooville by three goals to one at the Aspect Arena – Nana Kyei, Danny Green and Ben Williamson on target for the Beach Boys.

Buildbase FA Trophy fifth-round
Dagenham & Redbridge made Buildbase FA Trophy progress with a 2-0 win over Spennymoor Town at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Paul McCallum and Junior Morias netted for the Daggers to carry them into the sixth round. Spennymoor was reduced to ten men when James Curtis was sent-off following a bad challenge on George Saunders.

Pitching In Isthmian League Premier Division
Hornchurch moved into the play-off places after thrashing Folkestone Invicta by four goals to one at Bridge Avenue.

Tom Wraight (penalty), Ollie Muldoon, Charlie Ruff and Sam Higgins netted for the Urchins who now occupy fifth place.

Battling Bowers & Pitsea recorded a much-needed 3-0 victory at Corinthian-Casuals. Lewis Manor (2) and Michael Ademiluyi scored the goals that moved the Len salmon Stadium club three points clear of the dropzone.

East Thurrock United are at the bottom following a goalless draw with Margate at Rookery Hill. Meanwhile, Haringey Borough went down by a goal to nil at Potters Bar Town.

Pitching In Isthmian League North
Aveley and Canvey Island played out a 1-1 draw at the summit. Elliott Ronto gave the Gulls a first-half advantage before Alex Akrofi levelled for the Millers three minutes from time. As a result, Aveley stay top – Canvey occupies third.

Play-off contenders, Grays Athletic drew 0-0 at AFC Sudbury, while Brentwood Town kept up the pressure with a 2-0 victory over Coggeshall Town – Rob Harvey and Ashley Nzala on target for Rod Stringer’s men.

Heybridge Swifts and Hashtag United played out a seven-goal thriller at the Aspen Waite Arena. Daniel Walker (2), Garrett Kelly and Daniel Walker found the nets for the Swifts. Ben Brooke, Kojo Apenteng and Ross Gleed (penalty) responding for the beaten visitors.

Ade Cole and Shomari Barnwell scored for Maldon & Tiptree in their 2-2 draw at Bury Town, while a brace from Fahad Nyanja and a Daniel McCullock strike handed Basildon United a 3-1 Friday night victory at Barking. Tom Salter with the East Londoners consolation.

A late Suaibo Balde goal handed Tilbury a share of the spoils against Felixstowe & Walton United at Chadfields. Hullbridge Sports and Great Wakering Rovers also ended all square. Darnell Mavanga-Kithambo gave Rovers a fourth-minute lead at Lower Road. Sports hit back in the final seconds through Joe Gregory.

Witham Town remain in the dropzone alongside Hullbridge following a single-goal defeat at home to Dereham Town. Romford are cut adrift at the bottom following a 4-0 hammering at Stowmarket Town.

Essex Senior League
Walthamstow march on towards the title after beating local rivals, Ilford by three unanswered goals at Wadham Lodge. Cole and two from Scully doing the damage for the league leaders.

Amongst the chasing pack, Stansted were held to a 1-1 draw by West Essex, while Saffron Walden Town slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Cockfosters.

FC Clacton eased to a 2-0 win over Takeley, while White Ensign edged home 2-1 against St Margaretsbury. Struggling Southend Manor went down by the odd goal in five to Little Oakley at Southchurch Park. Hoddesdon Town claimed all three points with a 1-0 triumph over Sawbridgeworth Town.

Enfield and Woodford Town drew 1-1, as did Sporting Bengal United and Clapton.

Essex Olympian League
Premier Division
Rayleigh Town’s 2-1 win over Canning Town saw them maintain the top spot.

Amongst the challengers, Ongar Town won 5-2 at Leigh Ramblers. Meanwhile, Galleywood edged out Springfield by three goals to two at Clarks Field. The game between Kelvedon Hatch and Old Southendian ended goalless.
