Ebbsfleet United v Southend United – Friendly Match – The Kuflink Stadium – Summary

Ebbsfleet United 1-1 Southend United

Phil Brown ran the rule over a number of his Southend United fringe players during what proved to be a useful workout with Vanarama National League South outfit, Ebbsfleet United.

Matt Rush handed Southend the lead ten minutes before the interval – driving a low left-footed effort home following a neat build-up.

The home side levelled the score nine minutes from time. Elliott Romain profited from Lee Martin and Alfie Egan’s toil before dispatching a fierce effort beyond Blues stopper, Andeng-Ndi.

Ebbsfleet thought they’d won it in the final seconds – Goalscorer Romain’s attempt deemed coles, but not close enough by the officials.

Southend United return to action on Tuesday, August 10 when they face Norwich City’s under 23 team at Roots Hall Stadium (7pm).
