Young Blues beaten in six-goal thriller

Eastbourne Borough 4-2 Billericay Town

Billericay Town’s young side saw their three-match unbeaten Vanarama National League South sequence brought to its conclusion following an entertaining contest at Priory Lane.

Hosts, Eastbourne Borough snatched a twelfth-minute lead thanks to Charlie Walker. However, the Blues had turned the contest on its head before the interval. Firstly, Toyosi Olusana profiting following a long kick forward from goalkeeper, Harry Palmer. Then Rowan Liburd firing the visitors ahead from the penalty spot seconds before the break after Olusana had been felled by Franco Ravioli.

However, Eastbourne hit back after the restart. Former Billericay man, Chris Whelpdale heading the home side level, then nodding his current employers ahead eleven minutes from time.

James Hammond sealed the deal for Eastbourne with a stunning free-kick in the final minutes. The result leaves Billericay in fifteenth place. They return to Vanarama National League action on Saturday, February 20 when they travel to Hampton & Richmond Borough (3pm).
